Next June we get two days bank holiday in a row (thanks to the Queen’s jubilee. Cheers Liz!), so I felt this was too good an opportunity to miss for a cheeky long weekend away in Newquay.
Arrive Friday night June 1
Dive Sat June 2- Tue June 5th
Drive home evening of June 5th or stay an extra night (subject to availability. We did this this August and it was most civilised)
We’ll be diving with the lovely Chris Lowe on Atlantic diver, while the rest of his family provide hearty cooked breakfasts, generous packed lunches and cosy beds in the luxury bunkhouses at the bottom of his garden.
Yes I have already put the request in for the St Chamond, and for basking sharks.
Diving will be down to 35m, so suitable for experienced sports divers happy to this depth (near the start of the season!), and above. If in doubt, please ask.
I already have quite a few expressions of interest for this trip, but all is fair in love and dive trips until I see the colour of your money. Several other dive clubs are chomping at the bit for these dates so I need deposits of £60 pp to secure the booking asap please. Please email me and I’ll send bank details.
We haven’t costed it exactly yet, but based on last year’s prices, the total is looking to be around £280 pp for 4 nights accommodation, 4 days diving, breakfast and lunch. You will need to pay for dinners and airfills on top.

I’m looking at organising a trip to St Abbs, Scotland. St Abbs is the UK’s oldest marine reserve and is a treasure trove of life and dramatic scenery – probably the best scenic diving in the UK. http://www.marine-reserve.co.uk/

Its rocky bottom means that visibility is normally good and often excellent. The walls are covered with soft corals and various forms of marine life.

The diving is suitable for Ocean Divers and above. New joiners and people new to UK diving should consider this as a good opportunity to getting into UK waters. People for whom this will be first UK dive/newbie I would strongly recommend that you jump in the quarry before hand just to get used to the conditions.

Last year 16 of us went there and had a great time.

Dry suits are recommended. People have dived in their Semi-Dry suit last year. The diving is shallow (less than 25m).

We’ll be diving off Billy Aitchison’s boat which the club has used before – http://www.divestay.co.uk/ – including the famous Cathedral rock.

Friday 29 June to Monday 02 July (inclusive)

Cost:
Will be confirmed when we know exactly how many people are coming, but expect c£170 to c£180 for four nights caravan accommodation and four days diving. Cost excludes air, food and transportation.

I’ll need a deposit of £75 rather quickly. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested, as I need to confirm with the skipper/accommodation asap.
