Update on the Pool

The good news!

I have just spoken with the project manger for the Shell Centre redevelopment and he has confirmed that the planning proposals are being put to the Lambeth Council planning committee in June. If they get through unscathed, the earliest the pool will close is now November 2002.

He also informed me that there is a proposal to build a new pool in Doon Street, just the other side on Waterloo Bridge in front of the National Theatre. Shell may contribute towards this as part of their contribution to the community in the planning process (bribe to Lambeth Council – I didn’t say that). This may never happen or be years in happening but we can certainly contribute to the process.
