Welcome to the final new hellfins site How To Guide. I've decided to make this the last how to guide and leave you to find the rest of the functionality hidden in the site. This guide focuses on events and the calendar.
KEY TASK FOR EVERYONE
Unfortunately there was no way (other than me retyping them all) of transferring the events from the old hellfins site to the new one. Therefore all trip organisers need to recreate any events that they had submitted to the old site. This needs to be done by the trip organiser so that the correct contact details are attached to each item.
What is an event
Events are items that will be displayed on the calendar and include dive trips, social events and club meetings.
Any events happening within the club should be added to the calendar so that club members can see whats going on and potential members can see that we are an active club.
How do you create an event
To create an event follow the following steps:
- To even see the link to create an event you need to sign in.
- Then use any of the create event links (eg. "Diving/Planned diving/Create Event").
- Enter a subject for your event (eg. Diving the Kyarra in Swanage)
- Select the category for your event. Please choose carefully as the category you pick affects who gets asked to approve the event.
- In the activity box enter as much information about the event as you have available.
- Enter the location of the event (eg Duke of Sussex Pub or Swanage)
- Enter some contact details. Please be aware that this will be available to all visitors to the site therefore please choose carefully. You can add e-mail addresses into this box without having to worry about spam (they're displayed in a special way so that they can't be picked up by spam bots).
- Select the time and date that your event occurs at and any repeat. If you create a multi day event please make sure to tick the yes box that appears for do you want this event to occur on all days of the event.
- If you want to create a reoccuring event then you can set these details at the very bottom.
- Once you've filled everything out hit save and the event will be sent to the appropriate person for approval and then will be displayed on the calendar.
Booking Martha
If you create an event in the Martha Bookings category then this will be seen by the boat officers. The boat officers will treat this as a request to book Martha for that time period. If you wish to create an event that is for a diving trip on another RIB then it should just go in the Diving Events category.
