Hellfins AGM 2002

The official minutes are available to members by emailing secretary@hellfins.com but here's a quick summary for those who couldn't be there:

The chairman (Allan Hesse) welcomed everyone and commented on the excellent year we've enjoyed. He especially thanked Nigel (for his work on the lottery grant and subsequently the engine), Nicky for all of her work organising social events, fundraising and the T-shirt, and Sid for work on the web site and newsletter. He commented on the number of trips organised this year, with thanks to all that organised them, and finally, with so many active enthusiastic members, pointed to the healthy future of the club.

The Diving Officer (Phil Clifton) thanked Mike for all of his hard work during the year, organising pool and open water training. He complimented the marshals this year for their excellent record keeping and took the opportunity to stress the importance of filing incident reports to BSAC. The club has filed an incident report for the single incident in all our diving this year - a weight belt dropped by a diver while on the ladder that the diver below failed to catch it!

Mike Wilkinson (Training Officer) reported that he had enjoyed the enthusiasm of the trainees and support from all the instructors during the year Mike reported additional courses run and recommending that members should aim to mix their qualification with experience and speciality courses and set personal targets for the coming year.

He announced the instructor achievements during the year and congratulated Christine Macleod for gaining Club Instructor; Maili Buckingham Open Water Instructor and Sophie Rennie (Goddess) National Instructor. He asked for the membership to assist the instructors in the club as although we have twelve they all give their time voluntarily and the club is not run as a business.

Mike gave special thanks to Peter Pelosi for all his work filling cylinders and looking after the pool equipment.

Jenny Faben (Treasurer) circulated copies of the club accounts (copy attached) and explained the details. As Jen had done such a great job there were no questions.
