Hi all

Just sending a reminder about the upcoming AGM on 18 October, 7.30pm at the Dog House pub in Kennington.

All committee positions are up for election and we still have some roles with no nominations. In particular, we're looking for a Chair, Media Officer, Pool Equipment Officer, Social Secretary and Member without Portfolio. 

Just a personal note from me, that I'll be stepping down as Chair at the AGM; having done 3 years on committee in that role, and 5 years as Social Sec, I think it's time for a break and to give someone else the chance to bring their fresh ideas. However, my experience does mean that I have lots of knoweldge of how committee works and those roles in particular. There have been challenges, but on the whole my involvement in Committee has been hugely beneficial for me, both within the club and outside of it; it's helped me develop new skills and created extra interest on my CV which I'm sure has opened doors in my career. 

So if you're considering a position and concerned about whether you have the skills or the time, just drop me a line and we can have a chat through. 

Committe posts

  • Chair – Chairs monthly meetings and responsible for all the non-diving aspects of the club
  • Treasurer –responsible for the finances of the club including keeping records of income and expenditure and producing a balance sheet at the end of each year.
  • Secretary –taking minutes and chasing actions
  • Membership secretary –First point of contact for enquiries into the club, membership renewals, new member paperwork
  • Media Officer –looking after the website
  • Equipment Officer, Pool –looking after the pool kit, ensuring that the tanks get filled and kit gets serviced (currently done by an external), manages kit hire
  • Equipment Officer, Rib –looking after Martha
  • Social Secretary – Occasionally a split post – organising lots of fun social events including an auction and the logistics for AGMs and EGMs
  • Member without Portfolio –great introductory position if you are keen but new to the club or committee
  • Training Officer(s) – we can have up to three. These are appointed by the DO, but please let me know if you’re interested in helping out either with pool training or open water training.
